    Reachtec Aire Ltd had participated in 2018 Taiwan Agriculture exhibition. The main theme is sensors for high humidity environment. In an enclosed high tech farming, the usual setting is low temperature and high humidity because it is suitable for mushroom/fungi growth. But the said environment is very harsh on optical or non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensors. Our company has designed a sensor that could work in areas with high humidity, i e 0-100% RH. Most codes allow fans to be operated intermittently or complete shut-off as long as the carbon monoxide (CO) concentration in the space does not exceed 25 or 50ppm (check local code). A CO sensor can be used to reduce fan energy costs by switching off or reducing fan speed when CO level is low.

It is recommended that both hobbyists and commercial growers evaluate this technique in shortening the growing time taken between a young plantlet and an adult plant. The potential wide-spread implementation of CO2 enrichment techniques within the orchid industry to boost productivity is dependent on growers’ scientific awareness and the financial cost associated with the technology.
